Juvéderm or RHA — Which Is Right for You?

Both are trusted, FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers. Juvéderm offers a range of formulations for different areas and goals, from subtle hydration to structural volume. RHA is designed to move naturally with your facial expressions, making it a great option for dynamic areas like the lips and nasolabial folds. Your dermal filler treatment plan in Miami

Before Your Appointment — Dermal Filler

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment to help minimize bruising and swelling.
  • If medically appropriate, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen/NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E, and certain herbal supplements for 3–7 days before treatment. Do not stop any prescribed medication without first speaking with your healthcare provider.
  • Avoid dental work for approximately 2 weeks before and after filler treatment, particularly when treating the lips or lower face.
  • Avoid scheduling filler if you have an active infection, cold sore, significant skin irritation, or dental infection near the treatment area.
  • If you have a history of cold sores and are receiving lip filler, let your provider know before treatment. Preventive antiviral medication may be recommended.
  • Arrive with clean skin and minimal or no makeup in the treatment area.
  • Inform your provider of all medications, supplements, allergies, previous filler treatments, and any history of significant reactions to injectable products.

During Your Appointment — Dermal Filler

  • Plan for your appointment to take approximately 60–75 minutes, depending on the treatment area and treatment plan.
  • You'll begin with a consultation to review your goals, medical history, facial anatomy, previous treatments, and personalized treatment plan.
  • Before-and-after photographs will be taken for treatment documentation.
  • A topical or local anesthetic may be used when appropriate, particularly for sensitive areas such as the lips.

After Your Appointment — Dermal Filler

  • Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed by your provider.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for approximately 24 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after treatment to help minimize bruising and swelling.
  • Avoid excessive heat — including saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and prolonged sun exposure — for approximately 24–48 hours.
  • Avoid facials, massages, dental work, or other treatments that involve significant pressure or manipulation of the treated area for approximately 2 weeks, unless otherwise directed by your provider.
  • Expect some swelling, tenderness, redness, and/or bruising after filler treatment. Swelling is often most noticeable during the first 24–72 hours and may take several days to fully resolve. Lips can remain swollen for several days.
  • Your final result may not be immediately apparent. Allow approximately 2 weeks for the filler to settle before evaluating the final result.
  • Contact us promptly if you develop increasing or severe pain, significant swelling, skin that becomes pale/white, gray, or dusky, unusual blistering, increasing redness/warmth, or any other concerning change.
  • Seek emergency medical attention immediately for any new vision changes, severe headache, neurological symptoms, or difficulty breathing.
  • Schedule your follow-up as recommended by your provider, typically around 2 weeks after treatment, to assess your results and determine whether any additional treatment is appropriate.
